Shop Insurance

Having shop insurance is important to remain in business. A good shop insurance policy will cover you against unforeseen events that could occur, for example: flooding, lightning or fire.

Any event that could close you down could put the livelihood of you and your employees at risk. Here, at Trident Business Insurance we will make it easy for you to find the best shop insurance policy available to you.

Our core shop insurance covers:

  • Public liability 2 million as standard and optional increase up to 5 million available
  • Employer’s liability insurance 10 million as standard
  • Goods in transit cover
  • Cover for money kept on premises or in transit
  • Seasonal increases for stock
  • Accidental damage

Public Liability Cover

An important aspect of a good shop insurance policy is public liability cover. This will cover you in the event that a customer has been injured on your premises. Public liability cover also covers you if a customer has had their property damaged in your shop. An example: A customer breaks their ankle after having slipped over on a wet floor on your premises. The injured customer, in this example, would be within their rights to sue your shop because their injury was caused as a result of business activities. Having good public liability cover ensures that compensation, NHS costs and legal fees related to the claim will be covered by your insurance company. Without public liability cover you could be liable to pay out the whole claim.

Employers’ Liability Cover

If employing in your premises or shop then you are legally required to have employers’ liability cover. Employers’ liability cover will cover you in the event that you need to pay compensation to an employee that has been injured or become ill as a direct result of working in your employment. This also applies to ex-employees who have been working for you in the past.

Contents and Stock Insurance

In the event that they are stolen or damaged, you need to protect your contents and stock. You need to calculate the value of your stock, this includes your materials for trade. Many insurers cover for increases in stock due to change in season. For example, they know December is a busy time of year and will increase the value of your stock by a fixed percentage.

At Trident Business Insurance we are here to make finding the correct shop insurance easier and will work with you to find the correct cover available to you.
